The New House Tour

That one time, when we bought a house and I was in love with it, but it felt like a 40 pound newborn that I couldn’t figure out how to get a diaper on it?

I can’t wrap my head around why it is so hard for me to get a grip on the things that need to be done.  It’s a house. 4 walls, just like I had before, only a little bigger. Why can’t I finish unpacking?

UGH. I thought for inspiration I’d share with you the photos of our house, before the previous owner took all of his amazing stuff out of it.  I use these photos as inspiration to get my butt in gear and finish unpacking this place.  I’ll show you progress photos in a bit and you can keep me honest about the fact that we’ve hung nothing on the walls and therefore all of these prints just live on the floor.

213005892_201_12The outside of our 3 story condo.  That patio over there on the side is deceivingly huge.

213005892_N01_14See? I told you! That’s the view from our 3rd story bedroom window onto the patio.

213005892_101_91 (1)The second story living area.  The kitchen storage has proven to be issue number one, and I am embarrassed to tell you that since you can see how big our cabinets are…

213005892_801_91View from the kitchen.  The stairway is by far my favorite part of the whole place.

213005892_F01_22View from the 3rd floor down to the first in the stairwell. I know. The carpet.  To die for.

213005892_501_97First story, that is our front door right there. This is more of a large entry, landing catch all space.  I am going to turn it into a super mud room.

213005892_701_21Facing the other direction on the first floor.  He used it as an office, because he was cool enough to have a home office. Everyone knows I can’t think at home, so there’s no need to keep up the pretense that I might.

213005892_L01_15The master bedroom, used as a sitting room here.  It’s on the third floor, and there’s actually a window behind that huge chest.  The bedrooms actually open up to one another, as you’ll see below.

213005892_G01_15So he didn’t have them both set up as bedrooms.  We know a lot of vagrants, so we are making these both bedrooms.  As you can see, quarters are tight, so if you think you’re coming to our house for a private getaway, be prepared for me to hear your pillow talk.

213005892_K01_16Ultra mod bathroom awkward shower. I don’t know how I feel about the bathrooms yet, so don’t ask me. There are 2 and a half of them, so I keep rotating to see which one I like the best.

Anyway, that’s her.  She’s ours. So now I need to figure out how to take care of her. I’ll keep you posted on if we can live up to this guys’ design ability or if our house becomes one of those A&E specials about the end of the world and brick being overrun with vines and apes taking over.

    • Good luck Emily! It’s a whirlwind process. The one thing I’ve learned is that I will never feel “done” about decorating.

  1. Congrats! What a great looking space. Very interesting and gorgeous the way it was designed and decorated.
