Homemade Nutella

It’s another overcast and rainy Sunday here in Columbus, and instead of missing the Colorado sunshine and dreaming of mountain hikes, I am going to do what every Ohioan does.

Make nutella in my sweatpants.

Oh, that’s probably not an accurate assumption?  Well Whitney Houston once told me that “I’m every woman,” so it is my assumption that if I feel like making nutella in my sweatpants on a Sunday is the right thing to do, I am not alone.

Because if Whitney sang it, I believed it.  She could have sang “Crack is the coolest drug in the world and makes you pretty and smart” and I might have bought it.  Just saying.  Good thing she went with “crack is whack” instead.

If you can’t catch where I am headed with this, it’s something along the lines of “this homemade nutella is the kind of crack that makes you pretty and smart.”

Toast the hazelnuts in the oven at 350 for 5-10 minutes, checking to make sure they don't burn.  Remove from the oven and blend in the food processor for 3 minutes, until a paste forms.  Melt the chocolate over a double boiler.  Add  the chocolate and sweetened condensed milk to the food processor.  Meanwhile, heat the milk until almost boiling with the nutmeg.  Once warm, slowly add to the food processor while running until you reach your desired consistency. Serve with brioche, graham crackers, your fingers, whatever.
